Trail Safety

Trail Safety Foundations

Core preparation, communication, trail awareness, and responsible decision-making for community riders.

Production v1 pilot course

Course content

1. Prepare before you ride

Confirm the route, weather, daylight, equipment, water, communication plan, and the abilities of everyone participating. Choose a plan that leaves room to turn around safely.

2. Communicate clearly

Share the ride plan and regroup points. Use calm, direct language for hazards and changes. In an emergency, contact the appropriate public emergency resources rather than presenting this course as medical certification.

3. Share the trail responsibly

Yield according to posted rules and local conditions, manage speed around other users, avoid damaging wet surfaces, and respect closures, land managers, neighbors, and community spaces.

4. Make responsible decisions

Pause when conditions, equipment, or participant wellbeing change. A safe decision can include shortening, rerouting, or ending the activity. Completion records awareness only; it does not replace professional instruction or agency credentials.

Completion

Enroll first, review all four units, then record your completion. Completion is idempotent and creates one internal MTBRS certificate. No Trail Points, badge, outside accreditation, or professional credential is awarded in v1.
